Be a Safe Families Church

Safe Families for Children offers area churches the unique blessing of mobilizing their members to step into a need right in their neighborhood. It is truly relational and transformational for everyone involved. Churches of all sizes are necessary to provide for vulnerable children within our communities. We’d love to explore this relational volunteer opportunity with your church.

Become a Host Family

Host Families open up their homes on a temporary basis (average of 1 day to 6 weeks) to provide a safe place and loving atmosphere for children in crisis. Secondary Hosts can serve to give a Host Family a break during a longer hosting, so they can have a weekend off or go on vacation. Host Families can specify preferred ages and genders, as well as the number of children they can accommodate.

Become a Family Coach

The role is a flexible opportunity to support the Host Family and family in crisis in tandem with Safe Families staff. From providing transportation for a Host Family to sitting with an overwhelmed parent to process their goals, the Family Coach role is designed for relationship, encouragement, and Circle of Support coordination- especially, when children are being hosted.

Become a Family Friend/Mommy Mentor

Family Friends support parents in need by befriending, coaching, babysitting, and/or offering moral support until their situation has begun to stabilize – helping them improve their parenting and safe home environment. Safe Families staff will connect you with an at-risk family that would benefit from a healthy support system and mentoring friendship.

Family Friend Mommy Mentors are moms who match with a young mom in their community for a one-year mentoring relationship. Those interested should start with a Family Friend application, indicating that you would like to be considered for the Mommy Mentor Program or send us a note with the button below.

Become a Resource Friend

Other “Circle of Support” team members – called Resource Friends – help by providing necessary resources for the host and placing families that we are serving (material resources, meals, and so much more). They are a vital part of the teams that work to wrap around families in crisis.

There’s room for us all on the Safe Families Team! If you have a creative idea on how to support vulnerable children and their families just give us a call or shoot us an email and we’ll help to match our needs with your areas of gifting.

Become a Ministry Lead

Ministry Leads support and encourage the Safe Families Movement within their church or community group. Partnering with church leadership and Safe Families staff, Ministry Leads commit to guiding Circles of Support within their local church, while also sharing opportunities for people to join the mission to keep kids safe and families together. Ministry Leads might also help lead info sessions or connection events within their church and attend monthly meetings with other Ministry Leads for community and support.
